After 94 glorious years, Mary E. Doyle of Tappan, New York, passed away on August 7, 2017, with her family at her bedside. Mary was born on May 2, 1923, to Daniel Patrick McCarthy and Helen Bisland McCarthy in Flushing, New York. For 38 years she was married to Arthur V. Doyle who predeceased her in June of 1980.

During World War II, Mary worked as an ammunitions inspector. As her daughters were growing up Mary volunteered as their softball manager and coach for many years. Later in life, she worked...

After 94 glorious years, Mary E. Doyle of Tappan, New York, passed away on August 7, 2017, with her family at her bedside. Mary was born on May 2, 1923, to Daniel Patrick McCarthy and Helen Bisland McCarthy in Flushing, New York. For 38 years she was married to Arthur V. Doyle who predeceased her in June of 1980.

During World War II, Mary worked as an ammunitions inspector. As her daughters were growing up Mary volunteered as their softball manager and coach for many years. Later in life, she worked for the South Orangetown School District as a bus driver for over 15 years until her retirement. After retirement she was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Helen Hayes Rehabilitation Hospital.

Mary Doyle is survived by her sons Arthur Doyle, Robert Doyle, Raymond Doyle, Gary Doyle, and Michael Doyle; her daughters Karen Roberts and Sharon Villmann. She was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Doyle. She will be greatly missed by her 23 grandchildren, 15 grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, New City. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, August 12th, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 120 Kings Highway, Tappan, NY. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY.
