Gilbert "Gil" Whitney a lifelong Clarkstown resident passed away December 8, 2010 at Robert Yeager health complex. He was 79. Gil was born February 12, 1931 in West Nyack on the Family farm Briar Ridge located on Germonds Road to Erdman and Louise (Rick) Whitney. Gil served his country proudly with the US Army during the Korean War and held the Rank of CPL. He was stationed at POW headquarters in Puson, Korea. Gilbert "Gil" Whitney a lifelong Clarkstown resident passed away December 8, 2010 at Robert Yeager health complex. He was 79. Gil was born February 12, 1931 in West Nyack on the Family farm Briar Ridge located on Germonds Road to Erdman and Louise (Rick) Whitney. Gil served his country proudly with the US Army during the Korean War and held the Rank of CPL. He was stationed at POW headquarters in Puson, Korea. He was a master electrician since 1947 and held license #10 in Rockland County. Gil married the love of his life Marianne "Jacquie" Nocera in 1961 in Blauvelt. Gil had a passion for restoring and rebuilding antique cars. He was well known in the tri-state area and was an active member of the North Jersey Regional A's, Antique Automobile Club of America Ramapo Valley Region, Rockland Rodders and the Tinker T's of North Jersey. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Eagle Chapter and a member of the Veterans of Foreign War in New City and the Kearsing Edwards American Legion Post #1600 in Pomona, NY. Gil is survived by his devoted wife Jacquie of New City, his son Gilbert "Gil" Whitney and his wife Teresa of New City, his five cherished grandchildren Alexis, Kiana, Leigha, Grant and Ginger. He is predeceased by his brother Herbert and his sister Violet. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 - 11:30AM at the Higgins Funeral Home 321 South Main Street New City, NY. A service will follow at 11:30 in the Funeral Home. Burial to follow at the Pearl River Cemetery Pearl River, NY.
