It is with profound sorrow that her family shares the passing of Dorothy P. Kelly, 73, on Sep. 10, 2017. Some of the sayings that Dorothy lived by: "Life is what we make it"; "Everyone needs to have another chance"; and "Expect the unexpected." Dorothy was recently predeceased by her husband of 52 years, George. She lived an exceptional life of love and happiness. Born in Manhattan, the daughter of Charles and Katherine Stumberger, where she attended St. Cecilia's Elementary School and Grace Dodge HS where she was captain of her basketball team. Dorothy married her beloved husband George on June 5, 1965 and moved to Rockland County where she has been a resident ever since. Dorothy was a school teacher at Albertus Magnus HS, and a school principal at St. Joseph's for the Archdiocese of New York. Dorothy was a tremendous advocate for the unborn, and an important part of the pro-life movement. Dorothy's favorite past time included spending time with her grandchildren and being with her husband George on the beaches of Narragansett in Rhode Island. She leaves behind her four children -- George and his wife Laura, their children Joseph and Claire; daughter Katherine and her husband John and their children A.J., Christopher, Matthew, and Jana; daughter Colleen and her husband Andrew, their children Morgan, Kate, and Jack; her son Christopher and his wife Jena and their daughter Abigail. She will be greatly missed and her memory will live on through her legacy. Services are to be held at Higgins Funeral Home on Main St., New City, Wed., Sept. 13th 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass at Saint Francis of Assisi in West Nyack at 10 AM on Thursday Sept. 14th.
